The Moment I Said Yes
The Moment I Said Yes

Sunset at the lighthouse,
Waves kissing moss-covered rocks,
Your words washing over me:
Will you be mine or not
Never been asked before,
Breath caught in my chest.
The glow of sun on your face,
No thought, I said... yes
We raced along cliff side roads,
Wind whipping wild and free.
You revealed a ring so grand
With my favorite sapphire now graced
We drove with laughter down to Manila
Ready to welcome the new year
Met strangers who by midnight were familia
The night delivered wonder and cheer
We crashed a restaurant, got pulled on stage
Before a band I'd never heard
We danced with drinks that blurred night and day
Nearly missing fireworks we inferred
That Batanes sunset and each day since then
We’ve built something truly sublime
Thanks to your surprise way back when
And my leap to say "yes" in good time
This poem is pure joy!
ReplyDeleteThe line "No hesitation nor reasons to rue / Just a joy I can't express" !!???? perfectly captures that feeling of absolute certainty.
