On New Year's Eve
On New Year's Eve

I saw your face in dreams one night,
Though sure we'd never met,
Your smile, your eyes were starlight bright,
I couldn't soon forget.
Through days and months your memory stayed,
This person I'd never known,
Your visage lingered till it faded,
A dream that felt so real.
Until one cold New Year's Eve,
I wandered lost in thought,
And there you stood just yards from me,
The one I'd dreamed about!
Our eyes locked instantly that night
My heart was beating fast
We talked and laughed until daylight,
The dream had come to pass.
On New Years as the ball dropped down,
And joy was all around,
With you, I shared that special countdown,
The person of my dreams, I found.
It feels like something out of a movie!
