here comes the tears

 iv. here comes the tears

estefaaano_writes

i walk upon the river

like it's easier than dirt.

whilst evil weighs my pocket.

your will filling my hand,

tries to seek its level.

i'll cast it to the current,

where i stand stone-still.

a corpse with river eyes.

they say love conquers all.

but my heart's learned to kill.

yes, mine has learned to kill.

spikes rain from the heavens to the riverbed.

future was our skin,

now we're left dreamless.

a house made from cobwebs,

with clouds rolling heavy.

i bet this mighty river

is now my savior and sin.

oh my savior and my sin.

said i could rise

from harnessed goals.

but here comes the tears,

and like always, i let ‘em go.

for a man who walks on water

has nowhere left to drown.

Is the river time? Is it grief? I think it’s both.

This belongs in a museum of modern poetry.

“Life kills the still.” You mentioned that in the previous poem, and it feels like this one is the 'living' proof of it.
