THE ART OF LISTENING

the art of listening

estefaaano_writes

ā€”

A silent ear, an open heart,

A refuge, a safe starting part.

A gentle touch, a calming hand,

To guide and comfort, to understand.

...

The waves crash against the shore, their soothing cadence a reposeful balm to my soul.

As the sun dips below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and purple,

I find myself lost in thought.

Listening. It's a simple act, yet so esoteric.

We listen to the world around usā€”The rustle of leaves, the chirping of birds, the hum of traffic.

We listen to the people in our livesā€”Their stories, their hopes, their fears.

But do we truly listen?

Or do we simply wait for our turn to speak?

Do we really hear what others are saying?

Or are we just formulating our own responses?

Listening is more than just hearing.

It's about paying attention, being present, and engaging with the speaker on a deeper level. It's about understanding their perspective, even if it differs from our own.

As I sit here, listening to the ocean,

I realize that there is so much to learn.

So much to understand.

And perhaps the greatest takeaway of all,

Is the simple act of listening.
